Christian Unity among MM

Okay, here goes.  There has been a lot of talk about uniting Christian bikers.  Every year at the NCOM Christian unity meeting various MM leaders get up and talk about how we have to be united and work together.  The positive results are not easy to see.  This whole unity push actually came from outside the Christian biker world.  Richard Lester the founder of NCOM developed the concept of us coming together.  Not being a Christian, he was amazed that we needed help doing this.  Although the publisher of Wheels of Grace magazine was trying to implement a similiar unity patch he is still somewhat of an outsider as far as the ministry aspect goes.  So let's consider this:

1.  Why is it so hard for motorcycle mistries to work together?

2.  What can be done about this?

Brother Curtis,

The reason is because we see ourselves as doing seperate "ministries". This is much more of a problem than just in the biker community, the biker community is just a microcosm of what is happening throughout the church. It is the work of the devil to divide us because divided, he can attack. And division scatters our effort and makes it less powerful and less effective. The reality is that there is only one ministry - the ministry of reconciliation. Reconciling the world to God though Jesus Christ. We do this through whatever tools and means our father had given to us. Just imagine if we all had the same vision and worked together for the same purpose, sharing resources, moving together like an Army. We would be unstoppable. That is what the "church" is supposed to be. That is what the chuch IS. We just need to get with the plan. I have been watching and praying for this, along with others for years now. It is starting to pick up steam, just keep the faith brother. God has our backs ;)

Peace and blessings,

Re: Christian Unity among MM

Some good thoughts.  We can get a good picture of God's priority on unity by studying Jesus' prayers recorded in  John 17.

First Jesus prays for Himself that God's plan would be fulfilled as He was to be glorified.  Then He prays for His disciples, that God would protect them as they would lay down their lives to live and preach the gospel.  When He prays for us it is that we would be united!

John 18:21  "...that all of them may be one, Father, Just as you are in me and I am in you.  May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me."

The stakes are pretty high when you think about it.  Unity in not just so we can be friends, but it is so that the world will believe this good news that we preach.

When you look back at church history there have been times when a division had to take place.  Many have given their lives to defend the faith from those who would distort and destroy it.  The church is always at risk because of false doctrine and true believers must stand firm.  Other than that we must learn to live and work together as the body of Christ.

I believe we should embrace the motto made famous in the  restoration movement   "In Essentials, Unity; in Non-essentials, Liberty; in All Things, Charity."
